Café Hopping - Tiong Bahru

Tiong Bahru is becoming quite a popular hangout nowadays as they have a lot of cafes located there. So Doris & I decided to go hop around there to see what we can find~ After much research, I found out that Yong Siak Street has the most amount of cafes that seems promising so we decided to go there. I've read online that its quite difficult to locate the street but it's not difficult at all! If you don't know how to go, just ask the SMRT workers :)

So, first stop, we went to Forty Hands Coffee! There wasn't a brunch menu so they were only serving toasties (sandwiches) & salads! As you can see, the seats are all empty.. That's because we were there one step earlier than the crowd! We were there at around 11am and the crowd started coming in at around 11.15am.

Some really creative ideas for our order number & a holder!

Cappuccino (Reg) $5 - A tad bit bitter but has a great aftertaste.

My cafe companion for the day!

 Truffle Mushroom $11
[Shitake, button, portobello, truffle mushroom puree, rocket]
- This is really good but I recommend you to eat it while its hot or share it with a friend if not you may get sick of it after awhile! I am not a fan of strong tasting mushrooms but this is really good and fragrant! It taste like mushroom soup in bread!

 Jamaican Pork $12
[Jerk-smoked pork, mango, raisins, fresh tomato sauce, plum chutney, cheese]
- This is a heavenly combination! It all goes so well together! MUST TRY~ It actually tastes like hawaiian pizza!

Me with half of my toasty, I only finished half of it though cause the serving is too generous!

So we were chilling in the cafe and this waitress came to ask if we are done so I said yeah, she wasn't very friendly though, you could tell from her tone that she was quite annoyed and stuff. So she started clearing the plates and she spilled sugar on my phone, my camera and my legs. I wouldn't mind that because everyone makes mistake but she didn't apologize to me first hand and after a while when she apologized, you could tell she didn't mean it at all and it kinda annoyed me cause I don't like people who are insincere, but ohwells.

After chilling, we went to walk around to look at the pretty looking shops!

A shop selling cute & expensive things.

This totally looks like a cat.

A shop that sells books for kids with a really friendly store owner!

Book store that sells books that are from Singapore writer or books about Singapore. Saw this really cute book inside about a unicorn and its so funny!

At the back of the store, they sell old Singapore goodies but it's not cheap!

After walking around, we went to do what we do best... EAT! Went to PoTeaTo because I've always wanted to try that cafe!

Simple deco but it makes you feel nice and relaxed! We went in at around 1pm and there wasn't much crowd so it's really nice~

We didn't order too much because we were still full from the toasties so we decided to get sides!

 Rest & Relax $7.20 [refillable]
- We asked the cashier which tea does she recommend and she just asked us to smell it ourselves.. but there were only four types displayed so we chose this. It is okay but I don't really really like it cause there's this aftertaste that I don't favor.

 Truffle Fries $7.80
- It's my first time trying truffle fries and its really good! The truffle doesn't seem like a lot but the taste is still there!

Buffalo Wings $10.20
- This is really good, so much better than the one at Mu's Parlour! This is sweet & spicy with a generous amount of sauce but you can still taste the subtle crispiness of the chicken skin beneath all the sauce! MUST TRY!

And how can this blog post go on without our photos right..

We could only do two cafes this time because we were really full but would love to go back to explore and try more dishes from PoTeaTo!

Oriole Cafe & Bar + More

Aloha my darlings~

I didn't wanted to post this but since my blog is looking so purdy now, I can't help but blog. Finally met up with my two best best friends whom I've know since secondary one and they have became more than just friends to me, they are more like my sisters~

So we wanted to go to a new cafe for brunch but the one that we wanted to go didn't serve brunch on that day so after much researching, I found this cafe & bar that looks really good! We have never heard of this place but it's actually located at somewhere most of us usually frequent - Somerset 313! Have always walked past this place but have never noticed this cafe!

So, walking into it, the ambience is really really awesome! The songs, the lighting, the servers~ Okay, let's look at some pictures!

 Top: Vanilla Latte
Bottom: Mocha
- Both are good, one of the better ones I've tasted among cafes.

From left to right: Fish & Chips - Generous portions for an affordable price!
Eggs Benedict with Salmon - DELISH!
Beef Cheeks Tagliatelle - Generous with the beef cheeks, tender and flavourful with creamy base.

Honey Crunch Affogato - this is just plain awesome. It's the perfect combination!

Because we haven't met each other in quite some time so I was telling them lots of things which in turn made my pasta cold so I couldn't finish it. What made me happy was that the waiter actually came over and asked me "Is the food okay?" and I told him it was fine. That shows that they take pride in their food and it makes me happy when waiters/waitresses are so observant.

After our meal, we went to walk around had yogurt because I was craving for it so much. Went to Frolick but the person wasn't very nice and friendly.. I've always thought that people working at such places will be bubbly and cheerful but I guess not.. The yogurt wasn't very good as well, it tasted like air (described by my dear friend) because there's not really any taste.

Okay, that's the end of my post. Abrupt ending but that's just my style!

xoxo.

Ermm, change of plans!

Hi guys!

I haven't blog in some time because I'm lazy and because I'm having too much fun. Went to so many places with my family & friends but I am so lazy to blog about them so just look at the pictures from my facebook okay~

Change Of Plans

So I will be blogging bout today! Finally went out with Vernice (view her blog here), I've known her since the first year of poly and we've been great friends since~

Wanted to go to D'good Cafe but when we were there, the amount of people was shocking so we decided to go to Mu's Parlour. The stairs that leads to the cafe is so pretty with a brick wall and grass steps. The decor of the cafe is also very pretty and Victorian - with pretty lawn like tables and chairs with white walls. Let's look at some pictures:

 Iced Coffee

Chocolate Milkshake - This is good, me likey.
-My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard~-

Buffalo Wings ($11) - A bit on the sour side, a little spicy.

No. 11 Burger : Beef patty with guacamole, tomatoes, bacon.

Mu Breakfast : Eggs Benedict, Bacon, Sausages, Greens, Garlic Fries.
- The eggs were a little weird because the whites are runny but the yolk is quite done. The hollandaise sause lacks a little tang to it but other than that, this is good!

Overall, the food was okay but the selection was quite limited that day, maybe because we were too early. Wanted to other the waffles but it was not available :( But oh wells, the companion is good and because we were so early, the cafe was practically ours. With soft french music playing in the background and sunlight shining on us, ahhh, this is life~

After we had our fill, we went to walk around the malls in Jurong. There wasn't much to look at so we went home quite early. But the dinner at Lot One was nice, going to try to hot and spicy thingy the next time I'm there for sure!

xoxo.
