Instant Review #2 - Yopokki

Hi guys!

Haven't been blogging because I've been facing quarter life crisis lately, you know when you've finally finished your diploma and you're happy cause it's finally over but at the same time you're vexed because you have to start planning your next step. & to add on to that, the next step is not a tiny one where you can just do whatever you like. Whatever you choose to do will somehow affect your future. But okay, enough ranting here, if you want to hear more of those little snippets of my life, do follow me on twitter!

AND NOW,
I visited some Korean Supermarket and got a few stuff like kimchi, instant noodles, etc. The main point of going there was to just get the 당면(dangmyeon) & Sesame Oil because I wanted to make Japchae but ohwells, I went crazy and I'm proud of myself.

One of the thing I bought was Instant Tteokbokki which cost $3. Didn't know how it will turn out because I am very picky with tteokbokki but this was so good! & to add on, it's super easy to make!!

I love how they provide instructions in both English & Mandarin at the back!

What's in the cup. A packet of dried rice cakes and a packet of sauce. That's it! Simple!

Just pop the rice cakes in the cup, add the sauce packet and add in 20ml of water.

Cover with the lid provided and pop it into the microwave for 2 minutes. (or lesser according to the voltage of your microwave).

Less than 5 steps required! Simple or what?

TADAH!
The finished product!

So, you might ask, what now? Just eating it will be too boring right? Feel free to watch your favorite korean drama while enjoying this!

Conclusion:
This is seriously one of the best tteokbokki I've ever tasted and it's better than some that are sold in the restaurants. For $3 a cup, you can satisfy your craving so I think it's really worth the money. I saw one from another brand that has oden in it, I might try that one another time to see how it differs from this.

Texture: Good and real, doesn't taste fake or plastic-ky because they use real rice cakes. The rice cakes were soft yet chewy and absorbed the sauce well.

Taste: Perfect balance or spiciness, sweetness & saltiness.

    1. Would recommend cooking it the traditional way. Boil the rice cake till partially soft and than stir fry it on a pan with the sauce provided

    1. Just dump the tteok in some boiling water or boil in a pan on a stove top. They're done when you can stick a fork in them. Then drain, put back the tteok in the container and add sauce. Super easy!
